Brand history

Different publications emphasise the fact that the 'Mieszko' group is a young, but dynamic and thriving confectioner. They point to a tradition dating back to 1993 when the company as we know it today was established. It is certainly true, but only partially, due to the fact that Mieszko has a history much longer standing than this and its origins were entangled in various historic events.

Franz Sobtzick opens the first confectioners in Racibórz

1868

Franz Sobtzick erects the first steam-powered chocolate plant in Upper Silesia (today's Racibórz Town Hall).

The cocoa and Goldsiegel ('Golden Stamp') chocolate plant continues as the 'Ślązak' Sugar and Chocolate Plant; the Disabled Workers Co-operative Raciborzanka starts its operations.

Raciborzanka opens a production line in the old water tower building on Starowiejska street (manufacturing included caramels and fudge).

Mieszko launches products that are known to this day: Złote Runo (Golden Fleece), Kule Armatnie (Cannonballs) and Solo.

Mieszko is established following the merger of Ślązak and Raciborzanka confectionery

The Cherrissimo brand is launched – a current front runner in cherries in liqueur in Poland.
